Our Story
The humble beginning of Oneness Run started in 2018 as concerns were raised about the lack of awareness of the need for Physical Activities in daily life. A “Well-Being-for All run/walk” event was organized in 2018 and 2019, around the community center in the city of Palatine.
Then, in 2020, we entered the COVID-19 pandemic. As we hid in our homes quarantined, physical and mental health was affecting everyone. Keeping safety in mind and following COVID-19 protocols, our dedicated core team and volunteers hosted a virtual run/walk event. Participants shared their pictures from their virtual runs in their neighborhood on our Facebook group.
With the participant feedback and community support, in 2021 we hosted the event at the Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine. All COVID protocols were observed, hand sanitizers were stationed throughout the park. Many different faiths, nationalities, races, and color groups participated to make it truly Oneness event. The participants stayed around after the event and enjoyed connecting with one another.
For the year 2022, we are aligned with another 501c (3) nonprofit, Chicago Voyagers, who have been serving underprivileged and at-risk youths for over 15 years. They provide leadership and mentoring skills in a very engaging way via various outdoor sports. These opportunities are not available to this set of youths otherwise.
Part of the proceeds from this event will be given to the Chicago Voyager Charity. Please donate, sponsor and or sign up for this worthy cause. Please visit our website at Onenessrun.org for sign up, donation, or learning more about Chicago Voyagers For the Year 2023, we are in the process of aligning with other local charities to stretch your dollar to serve more youths in need.
